Checklist of things to do

Studying in another country is a great opportunity. To make sure you get the most out of your time overseas it’s best to be prepared and know what to expect.

Here is a handy checklist to get you thinking about what you need to organise:

  • Is my passport valid?
  • Have I got the visa/s I need?
  • Have I got my confirmation of acceptance for studies letter?
  • Have I arranged somewhere to stay?
  • Have I arranged health insurance?
  • Do I have enough money for my time in the UK?
  • Can I prove to the British authorities that I have enough money for my stay?
  • Do I have addresses and telephone numbers for both my college and host family?
  • Do I have the telephone number of my country’s Embassy in the UK?
  • Do I know how to get to the college?
  • Do I have enough money to get to the college or host family when I arrive?
  • Have I told my host family and college about my travel arrangements and arrival times?
